Simple ways to keep your GJ pieces looking perfect.

Silver and gold need to be looked after differently.

No precious metals, or the components used to make your jewellery, like harsh chemicals. We would recommend avoiding immersing in swimming pools for example or getting in contact with household cleaning materials. Hair dye is a no-no too!

Solid gold and platinum are the most robust and together with stones are the easiest to keep clean. A tiny amount of dish soap in warm water and an old toothbrush is just about all you need. But be gentle – no scrubbing required.

Should your GJ Sterling silver become tarnished then a proprietary silver cleaner or cloth quickly works wonders; but the chemicals are rather strong to use so if you prefer a home-made cleaner try lining a bowl with aluminium foil, add boiling water, baking soda, and soak the jewellery for about 30 minutes before rinsing and drying off with a soft cloth.

For mixed metals (gold, silver, rhodium etc together) never use a silver cleaner – only warm water and dish soap. The same goes for our beaded bracelets on cord or other stringing material.

It’s easy to keep everything in great shape so be gentle with your GJ jewellery and it will stay in wonderful condition.
